London was set up by the National Oil
Corporation in 1983 to take over certain functions that had
been performed by the home offices of the original
foreign-owned oil companies and consortia. The Company also
provides additional external services, appropriate to the
changing role of the oil industry in relation to Libyan
national life. |
Closure of
Umm Al-Jawaby Oil Service Company
Ltd
Following a decision in
mid-2006 by Jawaby's ultimate holding company, the National
Oil Corporation of Libya, Jawaby’s procurement, training and
other activities on behalf of its clients in Libya have been
gradually transferred to those clients. The reduction in
Jawaby’s activities has led to an increase in the number of
materials, training and other orders that have been placed
directly by Jawaby's clients with suppliers and
providers.
As a result of these transfer activities,
Jawaby’s procurement, training and other services to its
clients will come to an end on 30 June 2008 and Jawaby itself
will finally close a few months later.
